Bejeweled Train Handbag. 1960s. Maker: Souré Bag New York. Wonderful large tweedy purse with ivory vinyl accents and a beaded and sequined train, done in the style of many such Collins-era bags. This beauty makes quite a statement about choo-choos. I’m almost tempted to take a train ride somewhere just so I can show her off.

I have a bag that looks like those with the wooden bottom. I bought it for 25 cents in a tiny isolated town in New Mexico in the early 90s. I display the bag and love, love it. I've never seen any others before. The beadwork and paint on mine is a roadrunner, with painted initials of E,C, D or O. Same maker and age, you think?

Hi Hensteeth! Sounds like you have an Enid Collins or a Collins of Texas. If you'd like to send me a pic of it, my email address is purse@gorgeousandbrilliant.com.

I love it, Wendy. Hensteeth definitely has a Collins Roadrunner purse. I sold one just like it on eBay a few years ago. Kinda wish I still had it.

Thank you, I'll send you a pic this weekend. The purse has been well used and a bit badly repaired. I'm curious to see what you think.

Holly, I know what you mean! I've sold some stuff I wish I'd kept.

Hensteeth, did you send it to me this past weekend? I was away and had about 300 emails when I got back and didn't see it among them.
